London Drugs has been a long-time supporter of food banks across Alberta through various community initiatives such as Five Hole for Food. However, this marks the company’s first formal commitment to a sustainable program supporting food banks in the province. The company expects to contribute more than 110,000 pounds of food and hygiene products annually.

London Drugs’ customers and teams show up big for Canada’s food banks

The fifth annual Five Hole For Food (FHFF) cross-country road hockey tour has come to a close and we would like to thank all those staff and customers who came out with loads of food and support all in fun for such an important cause. In the past month, stores have been collecting food donations and on tour stops in Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria and Vancouver, a sea of LD blue-outfitted players played hockey for our local food banks with the amazing volunteer team from FHFF.

More than 60,000 lbs of food was raised by LD’ers this year, contributing towards the FHFF five-year grand total of 1 million lbs of food benefitting Canada’s food banks.

FHFF’s mission to be one of Canada’s premier food fund raising movements by 2017 is surely possible given this group’s passion and dedication to the cause, and London Drugs is proud to be part of it!

A big thank you to all of the volunteers who made this year’s FHFF such a huge success and to all who contributed to Canada’s food banks!

Play on!

The Calgary Stampede is over, which means so are the famous pancake breakfasts. However, Red Deer’s Westerner Days are just about to ramp up, and London Drugs is bringing the pancake breakfast to a whole new level with not one, not two, but FIVE breakfasts all in support of five local charities.

This marks the 15th year London Drugs has hosted the breakfasts, with thousands of people coming out to support each year. In 2013, more than 3,000 people came down to get their flapjack fix, and even more are expected this year.

All proceeds raised from each daily breakfast will support the designated charity for that day.

Five Hole For Food lands in Edmonton this Wednesday, July 16th. It is the fourth London Drugs stop on their cross-country street hockey tour.

We invite all our customers to come out and support the Edmonton’s Food Bank at any of the London Drugs stores located in Edmonton. From now until July 20th, customers can bring their own non-perishable food items or purchase products that are highlighted with the Five Hole For Food marker and put it in the food bank bin. In addition, the food bank says there is a shortage of canned beans, canned tuna, and pasta at the moment. Our goal is to raise more than $5,000 worth of donations in Edmonton. Let’s make this weekend our best yet for Five Hole For Food!

Catch London Drugs staff play in the tour game on Wednesday. We would love for people to cheer them on. Look for the blue shirts and London Drugs tent. Details are as follows:

  • Date: Wednesday, July 16
  • Location: Centennial Plaza
