British Columbia residents have a chance to play Santa to a Senior

newwest_xmas_tree

Our New Westminster Santa to a Senior tree on display.

This Christmas season, British Columbian residents in certain areas have an opportunity to play Santa to a Senior. Working with local Home Instead organizations and non-profit groups like Seniors Services Society, holiday shoppers can visit select London Drugs location to purchase gifts for local seniors.

At this time of year many seniors are overlooked for gifts. These programs aim to provide seniors in care facilities with gifts on Christmas. Gift tags are placed on trees at London Drugs featuring items on a senior’s wish lists. Holiday shoppers can purchase any item from the tree as well as provide other stocking stuffer gifts. Volunteers then collect the gifts, wrap them and distribute them in time for Christmas.

How to Make Christmas Special for Teens and Tweens in Need

Toy Donations Needed for Calgary Teens This Holiday Season, Accepted at All Calgary London Drugs

We have once again partnered with Jack FM Radio Calgary and 660 News Calgary for the eighth annual Toys 4 Teens holiday campaign, which aims to collect gift donations for 10 to 17 year olds in Calgary.

Generous Calgarians donate thousands of gifts each year for young children through various toy drives in the city, but the number of gifts donated for teens and tweens often falls short of demand. The reason for the shortage is that teens can be a tricky group to buy for.

Whether you’re shopping for your own child, or a child in need, London Drugs has a great selection of gifts for music and book fans to mini-fashionistas and even the most hard-to-buy-for youth, at every price point.

Other teen and tween-friendly gifts include:

  1. Gift Cards: London Drugs, iTunes, Google Play
  2. Electronics: phone and camera accessories, video games, computer games, mp3 players, speakers, cameras
  3. Beauty Products: nail kits, hair straighteners, curling irons, hair accessories, jewelry, make-up kits, bath & body sets, cosmetic bags, make-up brushes
  4. Home decor: lamps, vanity mirrors, blankets, NHL sports memorabilia
  5. Music: keyboards, drums, karaoke
  6. Sports Equipment: badminton set, soccer balls, footballs, sports jerseys, yoga mats

Unwrapped gift donations can be dropped off at any Calgary, Airdrie, Lethbridge and Red Deer London Drugs location up until December 23rd. All Calgary donations go the Salvation Army Family Christmas Assistance Program. Donations in Airdrie go to the Airdrie Lioness Club Christmas Hamper Program.

Operation Friendship Seniors Society and London Drugs Helping to Make the Holidays Happier for Edmonton Seniors

OFSS Color LogoTis’ the season to be giving, and Operation Friendship Seniors Society and London Drugs in Oliver Square are teaming up to make the holidays a little happier for Edmonton Seniors.

The program allows Capital Region residents an easy way to provide meaningful or useful items to seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts or companionship during the holiday season.

“We are so grateful to be part of this program with London Drugs for the first time,” said Jimmy Morrison, Community Relations Supervisor with Operation Friendship Seniors Society. “Many of our residents do not have family or loved ones they can celebrate the holidays with, so this small gesture will mean so much to many. We are thankful to the community for any support they can provide to us, especially during the holidays, and look forward to expanding this program with London Drugs in the future.”
