London Drugs supports VPD Foundation with Kops’ Shades for Kids fundraiser

Show Your Support for the VPD… and Look Good Doing It

From Wednesday, July 5 to Monday, July 31, London Drugs locations across the city of Vancouver will support the Vancouver Police Foundation and its Kops’ Shades for Kids campaign. The VPD Aviator Sunglasses will raise funds to support community outreach programs for vulnerable youth. Since its inception, the program has raised over $400,000 for programs in the community it serves.

London Drugs will be selling the glasses in eleven Vancouver stores for $25. 100% of the proceeds are donated back to the Foundation to continue its community work. The programs keep kids engaged, active and away from high risk activities.

When you purchase a pair of glasses, you’re helping the VPD and Foundation build safer neighbourhoods that continue to make Vancouver a better city for all.

Show your support by sharing an image of yourself and your aviators along with the hashtag #VPDPartners. VPD Aviator Sunglasses are available at the below locations.

London Drugs named as top 3 finalist for the BC Workplace Inclusion Award!

We are very proud to announce that London Drugs was nominated as a top 3 finalist for the BC Workplace Inclusion Award in the Large Business category.

This nomination was due in large part to the great work of some of our Lower Mainland managers through an employment initiative just over two years ago. In the spring of 2015 London Drugs became a founding Employer Partner of a new ‘made in BC’ initiative called BC Partners in Workforce Innovation (BC WiN). This is a 3-year pilot launched in the lower mainland that helps businesses to be more inclusive by hiring qualified, job ready candidates with disabilities/diverse abilities. This initiative works like a recruitment search firm, starting with our recruitment needs and matches these to job seekers – which makes good business sense!

London Drugs supports autism fundraising campaign across BC and Alberta

Puzzled Jewelry returns to London Drugs stores across British Columbia and Alberta for the second year in a row. Puzzled Jewelry is a brand with a cause, offering unique and trendy jewelry designs. With a new design every campaign, Puzzled Jewelry creates a unique puzzle piece of jewelry to build awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that impacts typical brain growth. As a spectrum disorder, ASD has a wide variation in how it affects each person. Common characteristics include difficulties with communication and social interactions, repetitive interests and activities, and stereotypic motor behaviours.

Puzzled Jewelry was created by three mothers, Patricia James, Debbie Su and Keri Kennett, who were joined together by an Autism diagnosis affecting each of their little boys. In 2016 their campaign raised over $34,000 through the sale of Puzzled Jewelry necklaces at select London Drugs locations in British Columbia and Alberta. This year, they have created 925 sterling silver puzzle earrings to support their continued fundraising efforts.

At a cost of $20.00 plus tax, partial proceeds from the earrings will go towards the Pacific Autism Family Centre (PAFC). The core purpose of the PAFC is to become a knowledge centre while addressing and providing the support and services required by individuals with ASD and their families. The Centre is the hub for research, and collaboration, providing individuals and their families with resources for their lifespan and is the first of its kind in North America. The Centre of knowledge and innovation will involve the development of physical “hub and spoke/satellite” centres located in communities across the province, in collaboration with local community partners.

Puzzled Jewelry earrings will be available from now until March 31st at most London Drugs British Columbia locations and all stores in Alberta. Show your support in a photo wearing your earrings and share it on social media with #PacificAutism.

Help End Bullying With Pink Shirt Day 2017

Please join us in standing up against bullying. We’ve partnered with the CKNW Orphan’s Fund for Pink Shirt Day as the exclusive retailer of the official shirts, with net proceed going to support local Boys and Girls Clubs across BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

On February 22, 2017, we invite you to join us in wearing pink proudly! Pick up your t-shirt at your local London Drugs store to show your support for this worthy cause.

A simple act of kindness can have an effect on bullying in seconds. It can make a world of difference.

Pink Shirt Day co-founder Travis Price recently shared his personal story with a Kelowna school of how standing up to bullying inspired an international movement. Back in 2007, Price stood up for a student when they were picked on for wearing a pink shirt – and he is now leading the charge across Canada in creating awareness about bullying and how to stop it.

“When we make the right choice and we stand up against it (bullying), that is when we make a difference in our communities and our schools and that’s when bullying will start to go away,” said Price.

Bullied in elementary school, Price knows the struggle kids are going through when it comes to bullying.

“I believe we are on a path for a better tomorrow and that is what we have to continue to do.”

Several Canadian bloggers have spoken out about Pink Shirt Day and the impact it has had on their lives.

“The thing about bullying is it can be stopped with one thing: education. People are cruel over things they don’t understand, and we all need to help put an emphasis on kindness education,” said Bree from the Urban Umbrella.

On February 22, 2017, let’s all join together to put an end to bullying.

Buy your pink shirt from London Drugs or online at www.pinkshirtday.ca. Proceeds go towards anti-bullying initiatives across B.C., including Red Cross’s highly successful Beyond the Hurt program where youth are trained to teach other youth.

London Drugs Brings Christmas Joy to Seniors

This is what the holidays are all about – the joy of giving.

This December, London Drugs teamed up with local non-profit organizations like Operation Friendship Seniors Society for Santa for Seniors, an annual holiday donation drive that supports local seniors in Western Canada.

We are so proud of, and grateful to, the London Drugs team in Northern Alberta for leading the way with this heartwarming contribution–and prouder still that the Santa for Seniors campaign is now nation-wide.

We’ve seen an outpouring of support to help thousands of seniors by fulfilling personalized gifts for seniors this Christmas. Customers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba contributed to the initiative by picking up a wish list tag at participating London Drugs locations and shopping for the desired items, leaving donations at the store to be delivered to a senior for Christmas.

Last Thursday in Edmonton, Sherwood Park and St. Albert., Santa Claus and several volunteers handed out gifts such as slippers, blankets, toothpaste, books and warm gloves, spreading Christmas cheer to over 2,000 seniors in need.

Thank you to everyone for the overwhelming response to the Santa for Seniors initiative, and for bringing joy to so many seniors over the holiday season.

Merry Christmas!
