As Five Hole for Food (FHFF) reaches its final Canadian road hockey tour destination in Vancouver on Saturday, July 21, 2012, London Drugs is proud to have already raised more than 8,000 pounds of food for the food bank fundraiser. Worth about $30,000, the donation will be distributed to food banks across Canada.
The 8,000 pounds of food will assist FHFF in their goal to collect 100,000 pounds of food for the country’s food banks this year. London Drugs is ecstatic so many vendor partners came together to provide food for Canadians in need. Food donated includes: Gia Indian Basmati Rice, McVitie’s Digestive Biscuits, Baxter’s Chicken Soup, Barilla Spaghetti, Papagallo Olive Oil, Cheerios, and Seattle’s Best Coffee.
“London Drugs has been a huge supporter for Five Hole for Food,” says Richard Loat, Five Hole for Food founder. “Their commitment to the community shines through in all their fundraising efforts. This is especially the case with raising so many pounds of food and allowing Five Hole for Food to have an in-store presence. We are definitely grateful.”
In the past few weeks, London Drugs stores in stops that include Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, and Vancouver have all made it easier for customers to get involved. The “Will Play Hockey for Food” T-Shirts are available at participating London Drugs stores for $20 with all proceeds supporting Canada’s food banks. Special pricing on foods is also being offered in various food categories to help increase donations in London Drugs’ food bank bins.
Two more games remain:
- Victoria – July 20
- Vancouver – July 21

About Five Hole for Food
Five Hole for Food (FHFF) is a non-profit organization that embarks on an annual cross-country road trip to feed hungry Canadians. From Newfoundland to British Columbia, it organizes drop-in ball-hockey games in major cities to collect donations and create awareness for community food banks. Since its inception in 2010, FHFF has collected the equivalent of almost 70,000 pounds of food. This year’s campaign starts July 3 in St. John’s, N.L., and finishes with its premiere event July 21 in Vancouver, B.C. The road crew will drive approximately 11,000 kilometres, visiting 13 cities in 19 days.
