Christmas ‘Radler’

Prep. Time: 10 minutes | Yields: 4L

Ingredients

  • 6 cans of your favourite light beer (preferably lager)
  • 1 box of Christmas oranges(5 lbs.)
  • 1 litre of white sugar
  • 1 small clamshell of mint
  • 1 small clamshell of basil

Tools

Directions

  1. To begin, start by arranging your ingredients and workspace. Place 1L water in small pot on medium heat.
  2. While water is heating, begin slicing approx. 1 lbs. of oranges in to thin wheels and set aside.
  3. Assemble the mint and basil. Pluck approx. half the mint and a quarter of the basil leaves, set aside.
  4. Once the water has started to steam, but not boil, add sugar and mix thoroughly. Remove from heat.
  5. Place orange wheels and picked herbs into sugar mixture. This mixture will be infused with the orange and herbs. Allow to rest overnight in the fridge. The longer the mixture stands the more intense the infusion. This can be done in the morning if desired.
  6. Strain simple sugar mixture and set aside.
  7. Begin juicing oranges until approx. 1L of juice is made, and refrigerate. Save about 4 to 5 oranges to slice into wheels for garnish.
  8. Mix the juice and simple syrup together and set aside.
  9. Inside your Beehive drink dispenser place the remaining basil and mint leaves.
  10. Lightly muddle them with a wooden spoon just enough to activate the essential oils.
  11. Add the orange wheels and lightly muddle them as well.
  12. Add the infused simple syrup and mix
  13. When ready to server, begin to slowly pour beer into juice dispenser.
  14. Mix gently and serve.
