The 7% provincial sales tax (PST) will be re-implemented on April 1, 2013.
The PST will generally apply to the purchase of goods and software in British Columbia unless specifically exempted.
Some PST exemptions include but are not limited to:
- Food and snacks for human consumption
- Books, newspapers and most magazines
- Child sized clothing and footwear
- Adult sized clothing for children under 15 years of age
- Bicycles
- First Aid Kits
- Feminine Hygiene products
- Smoke Detectors under $250 for Residential use
