3D Printing goes from novelty to consumer

L8900821Consumers now have easy access to be able to see first-hand the capabilities of 3D printing at their local London Drugs store. The Tiertime UP Mini 3D printer will be on display at 50 stores across Western Canada, marking a turning point where customers can see how these devices can be used in everyday life and not just for the professional user.

“You’ve likely learned about 3D printing from industry publications and seen the plastic-like output on display on your computer screens, now London Drugs is making it easy for customers to see first-hand if this technology is right for them,” said Cedric Tetzel, London Drugs Computers Merchandise Manager.

London Drugs specifically chose to carry the starter model UP Mini’s for the following reasons:

  • Without prior knowledge of 3D printing, you can start your first print within 30 minutes;
  • Requires very little maintenance;
  • Powerful but produces very little noise;
  • Strong support system for customers.

The Tiertime UP Mini 3DPrinter is as easy use to as a traditional inkjet printer using UP Fila ABS Filaments. New users can easily create custom parts, sculptures and more creative projects. Designers may also find the UP Mini useful for printing prototypes at their desk as they work on larger projects.

The UP Mini is currently listed at $849.99* featuring a protective enclosed design where raw plastic filament is layered on a warp resistant printing surface heated with PerfBoard in a safe and quiet machine. Using a precision head, ABS filaments are deposited on the platform, one fine layer on top of the other. These filaments are specifically engineered for UP 3D printers and provide excellent strength and low odour. The UP Mini is able to be used in any location.

Consumers can visit select London Drugs stores for personal tutorials and demonstrations of the Tiertime UP Mini 3DPrinter.

The computer departments will be demonstrating how easy the Tiertime UP Mini 3D printer is to use with in-store displays and experts on hand for questions.
