London Drugs and Bissell Centre launched their #StopDropGive holiday donation drive in support of Edmonton’s homeless community in Edmonton on Giving Tuesday.

The two-week campaign kicked-off with a two-person shopping spree around London Drugs in Oliver Square, which was broadcast live online through Periscope. More than 10 carts of items were collected for Bissell Centre at the event in six hours. Bissell Centre is hoping for a total of 50 shopping carts collected over the course of the campaign.

The #StopDropGive holiday donation drive continues in the Capital Region until December 15, and all items contributed will be dropped off to Bissell Centre on December 16.

“Holidays and the winter season can often be the most difficult for people living in poverty, and we are working with London Drugs this season to collect specific items most needed during the upcoming winter months,” said Devin Komarniski, Manager of Marketing and Communications, Bissell Centre. “With nine additional locations to drop items, our hope is that this will make it easier for people to provide items that will help us care for the 2,000 plus people who have access to our services. We are grateful to all Capital Region residents who continue to support us, and are thrilled to give our supporters easier ways to give this holiday season.”

#StopDropGiveItemsNeededHow to Donate to the #StopDropGive Donation Drive

  1. Stop by any London Drugs location in Edmonton, Sherwood Park or St. Albert between December 1 and December 15, 2015
  2. Drop off an unused and unwrapped donation item for Bissell Centre in the collection bin
  3. Give the gift of hope and help to someone in need over the holidays and winter season

“Even one pair of socks can make all the difference to someone during the winter months,” said Perry Lubberding, Store Manager, London Drugs in Oliver Square. “It’s important for us, as well as our customers, to offer support to the many men, women and families that don’t have a warm home to go this holiday season. It’s wonderful to work with Bissell Centre to help them collect the items they need to continue to offer the care and help they do to so many people.”
