London Drugs provides wireless pin pads for donations to the Salvation Army

In 2011 London Drugs provided the Salvation Army with wireless pin pads at two locations to increase their donations. With the continued trend of people carrying less cash and more cards in their wallets, this year London Drugs is providing kettle workers at four of its largest locations with wireless pin pads this holiday season.

From Saturday December 15 until Monday, December 24, four locations will offer the ability to make a donation to the Salvation Army using debit and credit cards.

“We are thrilled London Drugs has increased their involvement in our giving program this year,” says Major Ken Ritson, The Salvation Army. “Donations are down and there are thousands of individuals and families who depend on the Salvation Army for much needed food, clothing and social support. We hope that by making donating more convenient with the help of the pin pads, that the number of donations will increase as well as the size of the individual donations.”

The wireless pin pads will be at two Vancouver locations, Georgia & Granville and West Broadway & Cambie, the London Drugs on Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver and at the London Drugs in Coquitlam Centre. London Drugs is also accepting donations at the cashiers at all London Drugs stores, with donations going directly to those citizens living in the communities where the donations are made.

“When making a donation to the Salvation Army in a specific locale, your donations go directly to the people who live in that community,” says Major Ritson. “If you are visiting a London Drugs store in North Vancouver and make a donation, that donation will go directly to people in need, living in North Vancouver. There are thousands of individuals and families all over who are hungry and cold who need our support.”

London Drugs and the Salvation Army have a 67-year history working together to raise funds for individuals in need, in Canada. London Drugs has furthered their support of the Salvation Army with a Facebook Like Campaign.
