Socks For The City

Mustard seed short on sock donations for calgary homeless, London Drugs donating hygiene items for every gift-filled sock donated until December 22nd.

Stuffed stockings are jolly – especially when they’re hung by the chimney with care. But stuffed socks are also the most practical gifts for Calgary’s homeless. Each year, The Mustard Seed collects gift-filled socks to provide encouragement and assistance for the men and women staying at the Emergency Shelter over the holidays.

With just one week left before Christmas, The Mustard Seed is short on their goal of collecting 4000 gift-filled socks for their guests during the time of year when they need it most. They’re asking Calgarians to purchase a pair of warm socks and fill them with basic personal items, including:

  • Bar of soap, in container
  • Travel-size shampoo and conditioner
  • Hairbrush or comb
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste
  • Nail clippers
  • Lip balm
  • Travel-size lotion
  • Kleenex
  • Band Aids
  • Pen & notepad
  • Transit passes
  • Razors
  • Men’s gloves
  • Gift Cards for coffee, movies or food*
  • Christmas card or personal note of encouragement

London Drugs will be donating hygiene items for every gift-filled sock dropped off at The Mustard Seed (102 11Avenue SE, Calgary) before December 22nd, 2012.
