For a third year in a row, London Drugs is proud to support Canadian initiative Five Hole For Food (FHFF) in its goal to raise 250,000 pounds of food for local food banks across the country, its largest target to-date. The coast-to-coast road hockey tour began yesterday and London Drugs stores and staff will participate in the Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, and Vancouver games.
This year, London Drugs customers can contribute in a number of ways. Local food bank bins have been set up at participating London Drugs stores to collect donations. Special pricing on a variety of food categories is being offered to increase donations. As well, the popular “Will Play Hockey for Food” t-shirts are back. Available for $20 each, all proceeds benefit Canada’s food banks.
“It’s easy for us to forget that hunger isn’t an issue that only arises during the holidays and food banks need support throughout the year,” said Richard Loat, Five Hole for Food, founder and CEO. “By fusing our passion for hockey and charity to make a big impact with a little bit of time, work and ultimately, food. Without the support of London Drugs, their stores and employees, Five Hole for Food wouldn’t be able to help get food into the hands of those in our communities that need it the most.”
In 2012, London Drugs raised more than 8,000 pounds worth of food for FHFF. We hope to beat this amount for 2013!

About Five Hole for Food
Five Hole for Food (FHFF) is a national grassroots, volunteer-driven, social, not-for-profit organization aimed at raising food and awareness for a cause that affects more than 10 million Canadians a year – hunger. FHFF brings communities across Canada together by using hockey as a vehicle for social change. Each summer, FHFF embarks on an annual cross-country road trip to feed hungry Canadians. From Newfoundland to British Columbia, it organizes drop-in ball-hockey games in 13 major cities to collect donations and create awareness for community food banks. Since its inception in 2010, FHFF has collected more than the equivalent of 200,000 pounds of food. For more information about FHFF or to donate online, visit www.fiveholeforfood.com.
