Believe it or not, that’s become a bit of an important issue since the renewed emphasis on the public health message for all of us to do more hand-washing with the emergence of the H1N1 flu pandemic.
So, which does a better job of making sure you get rid of all the germs on your hands after washing – paper towels or air dryers?
Depends on whom you believe, it seems.
Thus, one study found that air dryers are the worst way to dry your hands because they can actually spread germs around, while another equally well-done study found that all the methods are pretty much the same, so long as you actually dry your hands completely.
If you ask me, though, drying is probably not nearly as important as washing so wash, wash, wash, especially now that we’re about to enter flu and cold season, and then use whatever drying method you prefer.
