MSI Canada Dragon Cup V3

msi

MSI Canada and London Drugs are joining forces again to bring you the third MSI Canada Dragon Cup Hearthstone Tournament!

Based on Blizzard Entertainment’s world famous multimedia franchise Warcraft, Hearthstone is a fast paced card game where you pit your heroes against your opponents in battle. It’s deceptively simple, which makes it an easy game to play but a difficult game to master.

This year the tournament will be held over two days, with the early rounds taking place on Saturday April 9th and the quarter finals, semi finals, and finals on Sunday April 10th.

The prizes get better this year too. The third place winner will receive $200 cash and an MSI GK701 mechanical keyboard. Second prize is $300 cash and an MSI Z170A SLI Plus Motherboard.

The winner of the competition will see $500 cash and an MSI GTX 960 2G graphics card. Additionally, the winner will qualify to compete in the Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo Hearthstone Tournament in Toronto at the end of April, a chance to compete for a share of the $10,000 prize pool!

Wait, there’s more! London Drugs will be supplying the top three Canadian players in MSI Dragon Cup V3 with $500, $300, and $200 respectively to spend at LondonDrugs.com!

The tournament will once again be streamed online by Twitch user coL_noxios, be sure to tune in to his stream as plenty of swag and prizes will be given away to viewers in Canada and the US! You can also follow along on social media with the hashtag ‪#‎MSIDragonCup3.

Sidewalk Chalk – A Young Artists Main Tool

L7428600When I was a young boy (I am NOT going to tell you my age!), staying outside during the summer from 9am until dinnertime at 5pm was the norm. There were all kinds of things us kids would get up to. Water fights, catching bugs, bike rides and other activities dominated our days. There was one activity that my parents always encouraged me to do and that was draw on the driveway with my sidewalk chalk.

Now I’m no artist. I’m serious. I can barely draw a smiley face. As a child though I thought I was the greatest artist that ever lived! Of course my parents encouraged me and praised my exceptional drawing skills. I know now they were of course being polite. I know this because my dad told me the other day I was just awful at drawing. I’m ok with it I swear.

Stuff to do when you’re snowed in

Boy, after being snowed in over a week ago, I learned something…be prepared! I don’t mean with snow shovels, salt or lock de-icers—I mean games!
I work from home, so being snowbound wasn’t much different from other days “at work”. But Dara had school cancelled all week! When you’re housebound AND have no Internet…well, I don’t want to go to that dark place again.
My advice is, in case we get another snowfall before spring, stock up on some games. The kind you don’t need electricity or the Internet for.

Monopoly

Remember this one? It’s where my aversion to real estate came from until my brother told me he often cheated (Nala shakes fist!) If you can, get the electronic version (batteries) that has the debit machine. Let’s be honest—nobody in our house handles real cash any more…do you?

Boggle

I had Boggle growing up and still like it. Especially because it has an hourglass, although I’m not sure why that appeals to me. Accessories, maybe? Boggle is easy to play and makes me feel like I’m at least doing something to exercise my 17-year-olds vocabulary. If you’re an Excel geek, check out this homemade version you can make

Cranium

I really love this game, but it only gets played at our house if CERTAIN PEOPLE (obviously not me) are in the mood. It involves acting things out and sculpting and other fun things that teenagers HAVE TO BE IN THE MOOD FOR. Is my sarcasm making it to you? Turns out, after you’ve played every other game and watched every DVD in the house, we play Cranium. That’s about when everyone has fun and asks “Why don’t we play this more often?” Sigh.
What are your favourite board games?
