Come by the Rogers Food Bank Friday event on December 9 to donate to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society

The annual Rogers Food Bank Friday is on Friday, December 9th with live radio and television remotes at the London Drugs location on Granville and Georgia in Vancouver. Returning for its fifth year, the Rogers Food Bank Friday event will begin at 6:00 AM and go until 6:00 PM. Customers are encouraged to stop by in support of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and bring a non-perishable food donation or make a donation. The London Drugs at Georgia & Granville will be open at 7:00 AM.

Starting at 5:30 AM Citytv’s Breakfast Television will be broadcasting live from the plaza in front of London Drugs at Georgia and Granville with special guests and holiday cheer until 9:00 AM.

Starting at 6:00 AM KISS Radio will be broadcasting live until 6:00 PM at the corner of Georgia and Granville in Vancouver. Stop by anytime throughout the day with a donation for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and say hi.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society (GVFBS) is a non-profit organization with the intent to help nourish individuals by providing healthy food, education and training. The GVFBS gives support to over 28,000 people every week through 15 food depots and over 100 community agencies throughout the Lower Mainland. Suggested non-perishable items to donate to Food Bank are:

  • Protein meat/fish/beans
  • Natural peanut butter
  • Whole wheat pasta/rice
  • Pasta sauce
  • Canned soup, fruit & vegetables
  • 100% Fruit juice
  • Low-sugar cereal
  • Infant food & formula

London Drugs launches food donations direct from Web to Western Canada’s local food banks

Goal is to raise 80,000 pounds of food this summer for people in need

The annual food fundraising tour, Five Hole for Food (FHFF) kicks off in St. John’s on July 1st and this year, there are new ways for the public to support local food banks during the summer, one of their toughest times of year.

“People generally donate to their local food banks during the winter,” said Richard Loat, CEO and founder of Five Hole for Food. “We run FHFF during the summer specifically to fill the needs of empty food bank shelves.”

London Drugs is proudly celebrating a new partnership with Alberta Food Banks, which will support 10 of its member food banks across Alberta though donations of non-perishable food and hygiene products.

London Drugs has been a long-time supporter of food banks across Alberta through various community initiatives such as Five Hole for Food. However, this marks the company’s first formal commitment to a sustainable program supporting food banks in the province. The company expects to contribute more than 110,000 pounds of food and hygiene products annually.

London Drugs to donate more than 26,000 pounds of food for Five Hole for Food

Richmond, BC, July 19, 2013 – With just two more stops in Five Hole for Food’s (FHFF) cross country road hockey tour – Victoria today and Vancouver tomorrow, July 20th – London Drugs is proud to have already raised more than 26,000 pounds of food for the food bank fundraiser. Worth about $37,000, the donation is three times heavier than last year and will be distributed to food banks across Canada.

Five Hole For Food – The Cross Country Tour Begins

For a third year in a row, London Drugs is proud to support Canadian initiative Five Hole For Food (FHFF) in its goal to raise 250,000 pounds of food for local food banks across the country, its largest target to-date. The coast-to-coast road hockey tour began yesterday and London Drugs stores and staff will participate in the Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, and Vancouver games.

This year, London Drugs customers can contribute in a number of ways. Local food bank bins have been set up at participating London Drugs stores to collect donations. Special pricing on a variety of food categories is being offered to increase donations. As well, the popular “Will Play Hockey for Food” t-shirts are back. Available for $20 each, all proceeds benefit Canada’s food banks.

Airdrie Food Bank’s Christmas Wish List

London Drugs thanks Airdrie for the warm welcome with donation for urgently needed items

During the three-day grand opening celebration of the new London Drugs location in Airdrie, customers donated over 18 bags of non-perishable food items to the Airdrie Food Bank. London Drugs is matching all donations made and will give an additional $750 in gift cards which will be used to purchase the urgently needed items on the Airdrie Food Bank’s Christmas Wish List. In addition, London Drugs is providing over 200 toothbrushes.

“Our Wish List includes the “must have” items in every hamper as well as “nice to have” items which we like to provide to ensure every Christmas hamper has a variety of nutritional food and essentials,” said Lori McRitchie, Executive Director of the Airdrie Food Bank.
